(PAN) PATIENT ACCOUNT NUMBER

USER PREFERENCES (Options):

This section addresses the topic of deciding upon a convention of Patient Account Numbering.

The preferences area of the software is referred to as 'OPTIONS' and is located under the top navigation menu under: 'System' / 'Options'. Here you can choose between:

1). Your choice of a PAN

SETTING UP YOUR PATIENT ACCOUNT NUMBERING SYSTEM (PAN):
Deciding upon a patient account number method, our software give you two choices of styles: A straight 'numerical' style where you pick the starting number and the software gives you each consecutive number, or you can create your own patient account numeration (alpha-numeric) based upon your own preferences such as an 'Intake Chart' number, or the patient's last name. NOTE: the default search in the patient look up is by patient's last name; negating the need to make the patient account number the last name of the patient.

'PAN' INSTRUCTIONS:
Step: a) From the Top Navigational Menu, select ‘System’, then ‘Options’.

Step: b) To assign Patient Account Numbers (PAN) sequentially, enter the starting number in the ‘Next Patient Account Number’ field. The software will pick the next sequential number each time you add a patient record.

Step: c) To assign a PAN alpha-numerically (with letters and numbers), check the box next to the phrase ‘Use First & Last Name in patient account number’. The software will assign the first three letters of the patient’s last name and the first two letters of the patient’s first name (i.e.: John Smith – SMIJO001) as the account number.

Step: d) To assign a PAN manually where you determine the number or letter/number combination (refer to section ‘III Patients/Adding a Patient’)
